Do you know why, Fangasmic fans? Because some of our favourite TV shows are finally coming back!

( If you're not watching these three shows, you should be. I'm assuming most of you are watching at least one. )
There you go, guys. And don't give me the excuse of having too many shows to watch already - we all know summer tv is a barren waste land of re-runs. You'll have the time.

Big news, guys! Everyone is on break for the holidays, even tv shows, but here's when you can expect some of our favourites to air again:
( Nikita, Fringe, 30 Rock, Bones, White Collar, NCIS, NCIS LA, CSI NY, The Mentalist, The Big Bang Theory, Hawaii Five-0, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Doctor Who )
What else are you excited about? Some shows haven't listed when they're coming back yet, but when we do, we'll let you know.

It's a little early for this, but for those of you reading who celebrate Halloween, we're all aware that it's totally the one night a year a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it, right? (Right.)
But what about those of us who'd rather do something more relevant to our interests than be a boring sexy bunny or a sexy nurse? (Please note I did not mention the classic sexy cat costume, as cats are relevant to our interests around here.)
For those of you who like to plan ahead, today we've got two nerdy costume options for you, good idea/bad idea style:
( Good idea: Intergalactic Evil )
( Bad Idea: I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS IS. )

Dear Matt Smith,
I know
thatneedslube and I have been hard on you. We've made a lot of cracks about your nose, your acting skills, and your uncanny ability to come off like a creepy old man who makes us itch to contact our local sex offender register. We've probably been unfair.
Be that as it may, do you really think that playing Christopher Isherwood in a movie and having a romance with this guy will make everything better? Do you think I'm going to forgive you for The Ruby and The Smoke just because you're going to make out with a boy on screen? Do you really, honestly, think I'm that shallow?
...Okay, fine, I am. Well played, sir. YOU GOT ME.
Grudgingly yours,
whyareyoulikethis
P.S.
thatneedslube still hates you (recent Who spoilers in the link). SO THERE.
I know

[science] Good vs Bad in the new Who
May. 2nd, 2010 03:58 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
It's the weekend, which means it's Doctor Who time!
whyareyoulikethis and I haven't watched the new episode yet, but in the meantime, here is some related Doctor Who Science. It is 100% factual.

QED, Matt Smith sucks and the new Dalek business is insulting. Otherwise, mmmm, Amelia Poooooond.

Like a tree falling in the forest, we all know that an having an opinion about something is essentially meaningless unless strangers on the internet agree with you.
But how is one to find like-minded people who will back you up when you say that Moulin Rogue was the dumbest movie ever, no one could sing, and seriously, was I the only one shouting at my TV for her to just DIE ALREADY FOR FUCK'S SAKE so Ewan could go cry on his typewriter and Baz Luhrman could finish rubbing his musical glitter junk all over my face and I could go back to pretending that entire film never happened? (No? Just me?)
Well, for all your irrational internet opinion needs, Amplicate is here for you.
The site is pretty brilliant in its simplicity. Simply type in something that you either love or hate, and you'll be taken to a page that aggregates similar opinions, both from direct users and those pulled from all corners of the internet.
Apparently founded as a way to document companies' customer service records, Amplicate has since been appropriated for things that really matter, like whether Matt Smith sucks (currently one of its top three topics, for the record). Predictably, we here at Fangasmic (read: myself and
thatneedslube, as has been documented here before) were drawn like angry moths to the flame:

The "m" in Fangasmic stands for maturity.
We're digging Amplicate, though. It has the potential to provide an instant temperature gage on just about anything, though we sense it's not being utilized by Fandom much as of yet. How else to explain the 69% approval rating for Stargate Universe, or the fact that Supernatural is apparently only 1% awesome?
Amplicate is fun to explore, though, whether you're in the mood for sharing some warm fuzzies (like for our current favorite: lube!), or in getting your collective hate on- like say, you know, for Matt Smith:

[bad choices] Torchwood: USA
Apr. 22nd, 2010 11:06 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This morning
stopitsomemore sent me this link. Trapped in what I am told is a muddled state before significant amounts of coffee have been ingested, she believed that any plans for an American version of Torchwood had been completely derailed.

Fangasmic being your source for all things classy,
damngirl of course chimed in: Turchwad iz ded of Turchwad. :(
I think I might be the only member of the Fangasmic staff who hasn't finished watching Children of the Earth yet, but you can tell we take this action seriously because we refer to it as "Turchwad" while simultaneously rubbing ourselves inappropriately.
The good news is, Fox has basically turned down the chance. The bad news is, several other American networks are still interested.
Rose, this is why you shouldn't make people live forever but still age. Terrible things happen to them as time moves forward.

[_finders] My Shame, Let Me Show You It
Apr. 21st, 2010 10:03 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I have an addiction. Not just my love of SCIENCE, or my obvious and painful relationship with Delicious Bookmarks, but something even more shameful. It's _finders coms. You know, when you get a shiny new fandom you immediately join the community for your favourite pairing, maybe the newsletter, and of course, the fic finding community.
( I make up all sorts of reasons for my membership in _finders coms, but they're all only partly true. )

You might remember
whyareyoulikethis and me from such posts as that one where we told you how much we hate Matt Smith (for a variety of totally shallow and legit reasons, I assure you) and
stopitsomemore making fun of us with her bedamned pre-Doctor Who season 5 Matt Smith positive space or whatever the fuck that was.
I even had this conversation with
stopitsomemore the day before:
thatneedslube: I saw the Doctor Who posts, ps I have the episode but haven't watched it yet
thatneedslube: so worried. what if I like it? I'll be so ashamed
stopitsomemore: if you do
thatneedslube: But if I hate it still, I'll feel so vindicated
stopitsomemore: you are obligated to post about it
stopitsomemore: you realize that
thatneedslube: yeah, that hurts me inside
Fear not, guys.
whyareyoulikethis and I watched 5x01 at 9PM on a Sunday (Can you say "mistake"?) and have compiled our amazing live blog for your entertainment. I believe it is more well-balanced than expected, which probably means not at all.
( Shut up, Stopitsomemore, his nose really is that big. )
Round-up time! In summary:
ETA:
damngirl: i see this and i see this.

Round-up time! In summary:
whyareyoulikethis: anyway, i will admit to enjoying the writing and amelia.
thatneedslube: the writing is good, Amelia is decent. Matt Smith is still lame
whyareyoulikethis: yeah, i'm still trying to get a handle on his performance, we'll see.
thatneedslube: I'm willing to watch more, I just am not feeling it really
whyareyoulikethis: ditto
thatneedslube: which is kind of a relief since everyone I know was like  OMFG I LOVE IT
whyareyoulikethis: yeah. i didn't LOVE it, but i liked it overall.
thatneedslube: Yeah That sums it up pretty well for me
