Dear Matt Smith,

I know [personal profile] thatneedslube and I have been hard on you. We've made a lot of cracks about your nose, your acting skills, and your uncanny ability to come off like a creepy old man who makes us itch to contact our local sex offender register. We've probably been unfair.

Be that as it may, do you really think that playing Christopher Isherwood in a movie and having a romance with this guy will make everything better? Do you think I'm going to forgive you for The Ruby and The Smoke just because you're going to make out with a boy on screen? Do you really, honestly, think I'm that shallow?

...Okay, fine, I am. Well played, sir. YOU GOT ME.

Grudgingly yours,

P.S. [personal profile] thatneedslube still hates you (recent Who spoilers in the link). SO THERE.

This just in! Remember how Fox passed on Torchwood: USA and we all breathed a sigh of relief? Well suck that breath back in, everyone.

EW.com reports that Starz has picked up the rights to the Yankified version of the adventures of Captain Jack and Co. (Yes, Starz, that channel responsible for Spartacus: Tits and Ass and that porny King Arthur show we talked about yesterday. At least we know that our dear Captain Jack will be in good company.)

According to Ausiello, John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Russell T. Davies will all be brought over for the American version, set to air in the summer of 2011 on Starz and BBC One in the UK.

And get this:

The new episodes will take on more of an “international scope,” says Starz, adding, “The new series will allow Davies and his writing team to tell a more explosive and global story, one that takes advantage of the unlimited narrative opportunities of a premium television service like Starz.”

Translation: they're giving RTD more money. And possibly creative freedom. This cannot end well. And yet, like a moth to the flame of bad choices, I already know I'll be tuning in. Damn you, RTD.

From an interview on Total Sci-Fi Online about Stargate Atlantis with David Hewlett- who, if you can stand to watch it, is currently in appearing at your local cinema in the movie Splice:

Can you talk a bit about your character’s relationship with Colonel John Sheppard, played by Joe Flanigan?

At first it was basically oil and water. McKay said one thing and Sheppard said another – it’s just that my character took a lot longer to say it. Depending, then, on the episode, McKay was either proven right or wrong.

Eventually, however, they found this rhythm with the two of them. I don’t know if it was Joe who originally came up with the idea, but he was the one who first mentioned it to me. Joe said, “We’ve got to be more like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in the classic movie comedies.” Here are these two guys who are total opposites – one is this suave leading man and the other one thinks he is, do you know what I mean?

Once we started doing that, it was great. I fondly remember those walks and talks on our strangely always forested planets, with McKay and Sheppard whining about something other than what was going on in the episode.

ME TOO, DHEW. I FONDLY REMEMBER THAT AS WELL. ALSO, WHEN WAS JOHN SHEPPARD EVER SUAVE?

It's a little early for this, but for those of you reading who celebrate Halloween, we're all aware that it's totally the one night a year a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it, right? (Right.)

But what about those of us who'd rather do something more relevant to our interests than be a boring sexy bunny or a sexy nurse? (Please note I did not mention the classic sexy cat costume, as cats are relevant to our interests around here.)

For those of you who like to plan ahead, today we've got two nerdy costume options for you, good idea/bad idea style:

Good idea: Intergalactic Evil )

Bad Idea: I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS IS. )
