Actually I fucking loved that article (the Time one). Yeah, slash is traditionally an underground sort of thing, but I think that's going to change no matter what we do. In the past year I've seen more discussion of fandom by people outside of fandom than I've seen before, ever. And, honestly, that doesn't bother me. I think it's time to come out of the closet, so to speak. What does bother me is that the majority of the media coverage has treated us like some sort of bizarre alien species, which this article didn't. The author actually addressed some of the reasons why we do what we do, instead of just saying, look everybody, aren't these people weird?
