[fandom watch] The Pacific (Is Nothing Like Rogers and Hammerstein Lead Me To Believe)
New fandom alert, everyone! Even though we're only three episodes into the HBO miniseries The Pacific, it's already got a kink meme, a friending meme, and a Fuck Yeah tumblr up and running, which clearly means it's arrived.

The Pacific follows in the grand tradition of war fandoms like Generation Kill, the equally excellent (EVEN THOUGH I CAN NEVER GET ANYONE TO WATCH IT WITH ME) Band of Brothers, and, even further back in the annals of fandom before HBO created decent original programming, Tour of Duty. (Anyone remember that one? No?)
Whether it's the epic historical sweep of the narrative or the tons of men being heroic with nary a vagina in sight, there's no denying these kinds of shows lend themselves well to smart, reliable, if smaller fandoms.
Are you watching? What do you think of The Pacific so far? Who's going to be the next Winters/Nixon or Brad/Nate?
